Well, resurrection is a religious idea – some religions believe in it and other don’t. From a scientific point of view there is no evidence at all for resurrection. However, in a funny way, humans do become animals after they die. If someone is buried after they die, then the body will decay and – sorry if this gets gruesome – most of it will be eaten by micro-organisms and insects. I’m sure that someone in the Forensic Science Zone will be able to explain what happens to dead bodies in even more gruesome detail than me!
I don’t think any one is resurrected into to anyone else or any other any other animal.. Each individual is unique and special in their own right, they don’t need to be someone else reincarnated.
Besides there’s another problem with reincarnation which is how exactly would that get started? Science tells that all living beings are descended from the same family tree and that if you go really really far back there were only creatures the size bacteria and ameoba? Does each one of these get reincarnated. If not when does a creature start being big enough to be reincarnated? And why would it happen? And how?
Scientifically, reincarnation raises so many impossible to answer questions that we decide it is just that.. impossible.
Are we talking about Harry Potter style transfiguration here or like a animorphism werewolf thing?!
Or is this a past life thing? Somebody once told me that animals are humans that did bad things in their previous lives!! Scary!! If I had to be an animal, I would definately be an octopus.
I don’t believe in resurrection. Which doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, just that I don’t personally believe in it. I do, however, believe that all of everything we are gets “recycled” after we die. Thus, all the nutrients in our bodies get degraded and absorbed by bugs and worms and tree roots and such and gets incorporated in their bodies. One of the nicest things I’ve seen in a cemetery was an Oak tree planted between two head-stones. The molecules in the husband and wife would become molecules in the tree so that they would remain together for a very long time… – I like the symbolism in that.
