Well I get paid £1000 a month by the university of edinburgh and i think this is a good salary. I know that other jobs pay a lot more but my rent and bills and everything only costs about £650 per month which means that I can save £350 per month to go on holidays or do fun things or buy big things like when I saved up to buy my motorbike.

Nope. But then I am still learning, a PhD is like an apprenticeship to being a scientist who defines which areas of research are important, and then does it, sometimes with a team of people.
Post-PhD salaries are better, I just saw this kind of job for £30-35k in my field

yes you should! Did I mention my rent includes a front and back garden? And I have free parking on my street?! And it’s a 15 min drive to the Pentland Hills from my house! I love Edinburgh!
