  The scientists made synthetic DNA and transplanted it into the bacteria, and the DNA went on to control the cells.
  
  One day I think we will be able to make synthetic microbes and bacteria, and eventually we might even be able to design bacterial cells that will produce medicines and fuels or even absorb greenhouse gases.
