      I love my work!!

I think it is meaningful and it feels good to be doing somthing that will hopefully help people one day.

Also, it’s really fun working in a lab. I get to use all kinds of strange chemicals and weird machines! And I’m a practical type of person, I’d rather be doing something than sitting at a desk, and I like working with my hands.

The other part of my work is the teaching duties. I teach a class how to do their experiments on a Tuesday afternoon. The students are really nice and friendly and we have a good laugh. One of my students accidently soaked me with water the other day and she was so embarrassed, but I thought it was really funny! The only bad thing about teaching is all the marking you have to do!

And of course the final part of my work is science communication. I go to schools and science festivals and do demonstrations and workshops for young people. I think that is my favourite part of my work. They always love it and the best thing is going to a school because everyone really gets into it, I guess it must be a nice break from their normal lessons!

Yes I hugely enjoy my work – there’s really nothing I would rather do! Because of this I count myself very lucky.
